The Honey LTD & Eve Collection

It is with great pleasure and happiness that I present to you....., the Honey Ltd and Eve collection! This special package combines the works of the group primarily known as Honey Ltd, while also covering their foundation as the Mama Cats and their later incarnation as Eve.

Honey Ltd are perhaps one of the last great female vocal groups of the sixties, encompassing dream-like harmonies and song writing to fantastic production and arrangement. ... Of course there's much more to the story!

The full history, including interviews. of these groovy girls is provided by Perfect Sound Forever

While the full picture is provided by Spectropop

However the brief version goes something like this...
Four girls (Laura, Marsha Jo, Alex and Joan) meet through university. Finding a common passion for singing, they form a band. Next they meet an influential manager from Detroit, christening them the Mama Cats. Much touring ensues and with one single down an eventual move to LA became their next move. One phone call later, and one meeting with a certain Mr. Hazelwood they hit a recording studio. A publicity campaign is launched and singles follow. Unknown to the band, however, a self-titled LP is released on LHI. Eventually Alex leaves the band and Eve is formed. An LP of theirs is released mid 1970. The band moves on but leaves behind a beautiful legacy...

However that is only a very brief brief - so please do read on at Perfect Sound Forever!

It is however, fair to say that the Honey Ltd LP, is very much a rarity - and can fetch up to prices of $2000 - worth it? You betcha! Included in the collection are 23 songs, including the Mama Cats A-side, the Honey Ltd LP, a non LP single, an alternate version of Louie Louie, the Eve LP and a song scored for the Vanishing Point film soundtrack. This won't be available for too long....so grab it while you can!

This post is dedicated to the great man behind all of this, Lee Hazelwood.

Hey, I wrote a big Blog piece on all the Girl Groups, and I included a link to bring folks to your Honey Ltd. blog!

Their music is amzing. I listen to it all the time. "Miss You". "I've Got Your Man". Nice rethink of the Knickerbockers' "For Your Mind". Eve's "Lo And Behold".

And the Moppets' "Cry Just a Little" outdoes the original! So eerie and cinematic. It's crazy this stuff hasn't been reissued yet!

Awwww... I'd just gotten hold of the Eve album, which I'm thoroughly digging. Was so psyched to find the Honey Ltd stuff here but the d/l is already gone - any chance you can restore it for a fan?

Wow, fantastic to hear you mom was a member of the group, does she still perform? Sorry for the delayed response too - hadnt checked comments on old posts for a while!

She performs with her sister still in florida, they sing at parties and things like that, she had all sorts of musical things going on when i was younger but then she had to support me and all that and do all sorts of boring work. All of them still sing beautifully though.

I have located master tapes for both their Mama Cats single, and Honey Ltd. tracks but the fellow who handles the Hazelwood Estate states that it is not on his priority list and will see who offers the most money licensing wise.

So while there is some progress, there is also nothing confirmed at this point. Stay tuned to SuperOldies.com for any progress reports, and let's hope this sees a release soon!

If you could send me a private message it would be wonderful. I cant really figure out how to do it...Im willing to do all the work to get the records rereleased and if you could give me a hand with what you know it would be eternally appreciated by myself, my mother and the rest of Honey Ltd.

Hi cinnamonK and all other bloggers,

I am looking for Honey Ltd songs and more and especially "Come Down" which reached #33 on WSPT radio (Wisconsin) in 1968.

Maybe someone can send me the song or a download link for the LP.

Hi, as a tribute to these magnificent 'chanteuses américaine', I have set up a blog to serve as a kind of 'collective memory' about these gals, in order that more people can 'discover' them & the truly inspirational music they made:

http://silken-honey.blogspot.com/

I hope that anyone who knows anything about the recording details of any of their tracks will post their memories here, in order to create a digital 'Akashic Record'.

Ciao, Joe De Lede
